Corrosion has been most chemical plants’ number 1 biggest enemy, due to the many problems it brings, such as creating safety issues, reducing efficiency, causing downtime, and contaminating entire batches of fluids flowing through these corroded pipes. Depending on the nature of the industry, it is never wise to allow the piping system to reach the point of corrosion when it comes in contact with chemicals due to the complications that could potentially arise. Some daily examples of corrosion include corroded medical implants leading to blood poisoning or air pollution causing corrosion damage to vintage artwork around the world. This corrosion issue becomes exponentially more problematic and the impact more severe when occurring in massive chemical plants.
By using Polytetrafluoroethylene (also commonly known as PTFE or Teflon) in all our piping systems, the problem of corrosion is solved with a wide range of other benefits. PTFE is one of the
most inert synthetic fluoropolymer in the world, meaning it does not react with majority of other substances, making it the perfect material to use in processes with chemicals. On top of that, it can
withstand extremely high heat, that often is required in many chemical processes. PTFE also boasts of a very
low coefficient of friction meaning it is extremely non-stick thus improving the flow of chemicals in piping systems, reducing unwanted generation of any heat and static.
Lining PTFE in steel pipes has proved excellent in many applications and industries as it
combines the mechanical strength of steel on the exterior with the chemical resistance and purity of PTFE, making it a permanent solution to handle corrosive chemicals.
By
reducing corrosion and rust, the lifespan of piping systems increases and in turn
reduces the downtime of having to replace and maintain corroded piping systems. Our PTFE lined pipes are lined with a thick layer of PTFE (minimally 3mm) internally to ensure the safety and reliability of the pipes. The thick layer of PTFE also does not get scraped off easily by abrasive chemicals and substances as compared to sprayed on PTFE coatings. Additionally, PTFE has
0 moisture absorption that prevents the chemical from coming in contact with any moisture, making it ideal for piping systems that require minimal moisture.
With these abilities to withstand extreme process conditions especially in systems that require
high purity applications, PTFE is the best material to use to line the piping systems.
